The „Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab” (EMCL), lead by the project coordinator Prof Dr. Vincent Heuveline, is a research group at the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) of Heidelberg University. The Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) is a central research center at Heidelberg University, which promotes and fosters interdisciplinary research in mathematical modelling and computational methods in science and technology. As a research group at IWR, EMCL is dedicated to interdisciplinary research activities in the domains of scientific computing, numerical optimization and high performance computing. In cooperation with institutes of the UHEI and industrial partners, the EMCL currently works on topics in the areas of biotechnology, medical engineering, environmental sciences and energy research.
